Aristotle
Aristotle was born in Macedonia in the year 322 BC. Together with Plato, they were the most influential thinkers of the time. Aristotle attended Plato's academy in Athens. Eventually he accepted a position on the island of Lesbos as a tutor for Alexander the Great. In 335 he returned to Athens and established a school where he conducted research on a variety of subjects and built a great library of information. Many of his writings were scientific in nature and were related to physics, astronomy and biology. Three of his works in biology focused on the Parts of Animals, the Motion of Animals, and the History of Animals. They laid the foundation for many other people to continue research.
