On July 20, 1969, astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the Moon. He and "Buzz" Aldrin landed the lunar module Eagle on the Moon's Sea of Tranquillity and spoke the now famous words "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." |
