Dr. Frederick Banting
(1891 - 1941)
Frederick Banting was a Canadian physician who studied at the University of Toronto and became a doctor in 1916. He served as a medical officer in World War I and was wounded in battle.

After the war, he settled in London, Ontario where he partnered with Dr. Charles best to study insulin, which is a substance, used in the treatment of diabetes.

He received the Nobel prize for medicine in 1923 along with Dr. John Macleod. As a tribute to his work and admiration for Dr. Best, Dr. Banting shared his portion of the Nobel prize with Dr. Best.
