Leonardo da Vinci was an artist and an inventor. He was born in 1452. His sketchbooks were filled with diagrams and notes explaining his inventions and experiments. Leonardo da Vinci was very interested in machines. He spent a great deal of time working out gear ratios and the best shape for gear teeth. A student of Leonardo da Vinci sketched a vehicle in about 1490, which looks a lot like today's bicycle. |
