Johannes Kepler
Johannes Kepler was born on December 27, 1571, in Weil der Stadt, Württemburg, in the Holy Roman Empire. He was a sickly child and his parents were poor. But because of his intelligence, he earned a scholarship to the University of Tübingen where he was introduced to the theories of Copernicus. In 1596, while a mathematics teacher in Graz, he was one of the first to write a scientific defense of Copernicus' theories in a book called the Mysterious Cosmos.
