Sir Isaac Newton
(1642 - 1727)
Isaac Newton was an English physicist and mathematician whose theories and discoveries are credited with many current ideas in science. Newton developed a kind of mathematics known as Calculus. The study of light and colors also fascinated him. He demonstrated how light could be broken into its many colors with the use of a prism. Newton is probably best known for his Law of Universal Gravitation. He explained that a force called gravity affects all things in space and on Earth. Newton's Third Law of Motion, which states that for every action there is an equal, and opposite reaction is particularly relevant to the study of flight.
