Nikola Telsa
( 1856 - 1943)
Nikola Telsa was a physicist and electrical engineer who is credited with the invention of fluorescent lighting, the induction motor, the Telsa coil and a system of power production called AC (alternating current) used in our homes today. George Westinghouse bought many of Telsa's patents from him and turned them into very useful products. The Telsa coil for example, is used in radios and televisions as well as other electronic equipment. Westinghouse also produced dynamos, motors and transformers based on Telsa's ideas.

Nikola Telsa is considered to be one of the most outstanding scientists who provided the ideas for many of our modern technological products. Did you know that the rock group TELSA from California is named after this scientist?
